This is a Promise Day
Few days can inspire as much gratitude in my heart like this day…Calla’s baptism day, February 10.
There is celebration when I consider that Jesus entered my life, praise when I remember the moments that He began to reign in my heart, humility when I count the cost He paid to save me. There is comfort in my forgiveness, confidence in my salvation, anticipation in my hope.
My heart sings when I consider how my Jesus loves me…but oh it roars when I consider how He loves my child. My praise swells to an ovation, my gratitude grows to a frenzied, wide-armed dance, my worship explodes again & again in all the glorious colors of exultation…Jesus has saved my precious ones, the lives closest to my heart, the most important & most beautiful people in my life! Jesus loves my Ezra, my Calla, & my Lilah so much that He gave His life to save them, He offers them the same promises I cling to, leads them to the same Homeland I journey to!
And this day…THIS day marks the day my precious daughter, my sweet Calla, put her faith in Jesus & chose to obey Him in baptism.
This day is a promise day.
This is the day I heard her proudly proclaim, “He is my Savior, He is my King & I will follow Him forever.” This is the day I cheered as her Daddy immersed her, this is the day I wrapped a towel around her dripping little body & hugged her tight, this is the day she stood with wet hair beside me in church, took her first communion, sang God’s worship out with her sweet voice.
This is a promise day.
A promise that though death stole her from my arms, My King rescued her to His. A promise that eternity is hers & mine to spend with our God! A promise that the worst things are not the last things, that there is great joy ahead & that Jesus has saved my precious girl.
Today marks a promise: salvation is Calla’s, victory is Calla’s, rest is Calla’s, reward is Calla’s, Heaven is Calla’s, reunion is Calla’s, RESURRECTION is Calla’s!
And therefore…
“I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name, forever, and ever. I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever. Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! They will speak of the glory of your kingdom; they will give examples of your power. They will tell about your mighty deeds and about the majesty and glory of your reign. For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. The LORD always keeps his promises; He is gracious, and all He does. The LORD helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads. The eyes of all look to you in hope; you give them their food as they need it. When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing. The LORD is righteous in everything He does; He is filled with kindness. The LORD is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him in truth. He grants the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cries for help and rescues them. The LORD protects all those who love Him, but He destroys the wicked. I will praise the LORD, and may everyone on earth bless His holy name, forever, and ever. -Psalm 145
