He Is Not Done Yet…

Following the agony of Good Friday and just before the glory of Resurrection Sunday, is Holy Saturday.

It’s a day in the tension, held between what was and what is yet to be. A day shell-shocked by the events on Friday; a day we imagine what the first disciples felt…the fear, the sorrow, the confusion, the disappointment…the grief. Our hearts ache for them…they didn’t know the joy ahead, just past the darkness of the night. They didn’t know that the trauma of Friday’s violence would be swallowed up by death’s defeat on Sunday.

But we do.

We know that Jesus’ bloody death on Friday laid the ground for His triumphant Resurrection on Sunday. We know that though sorrow lasts for the night, joy comes in the morning. We know that the pain of what was is securely anchored to the hope of what will be.

We know what Sunday holds.

And as we live out our days in the tension of our faith in the saving grace of what Jesus has done for us and the hope of His one day Return, we are experiencing our own “holy Saturday.” We too, know sorrow, we too, know disappointment, pain, loss, confusion, tears, fear, grief…but we also know what is ahead.

We live out Saturday by the light of Sunday’s empty tomb.

God’s Word gives us the hope of Resurrection Day to carry us through our Holy Saturday lives. We walk forward with confident expectation that every promise He’s made, He will fulfill. We endure, believing in what is to come. We live in hope now because we have a Living Hope.

Praise God, Resurrection Sunday points to another resurrection day, our resurrection day! The harvest God began by raising His Son, will one day extend to every corner of our world and every heart that is willing to accept Jesus as Savior. He is making all things new, and He’s not done yet.

The risen King is a coming King!

The resurrected Jesus is coming back to claim His Kingdom!

The Gospel does not stop with Resurrection, it is finally fulfilled in the return of our Risen King. For all who are disappointed in life in this broken world, the good news is still unfolding - our hope in Christ is not only for this life. He is not done yet…He is not done yet!

We have such great and precious promises held out before us; rest, reward, restoration, reunion, resurrection and our eternal Home with our God. He who has promised is faithful…every word He has spoken is true…there is great joy ahead!

So Church, don’t stop waiting! Don’t stop watching, longing, aching, asking, praying, waiting for Jesus’ Return! Keep watch, keep your lamps burning, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and keep your hearts set on Heaven…all the more as you see The Day approaching! This world is not our permanent home, we are looking forward to a Home yet to come. Our hope held out is no hope at all if it is not anchored in Christ’s return.

The coming One will come and nothing can stop Him!

So celebrate! Praise! Exult! Dance with joy and wear your voice out with shouting…we have been redeemed, cleansed, chosen to be the Bride of Christ…

Oh Bride, don’t stop watching for the Bridegroom…prepare yourself for Him!

The wedding is still to come, the fulfillment of every promise is still to come, the satisfaction of every holy desire, the Day that God makes His Home among His people is still to come!

A church saved by one name: JESUS, should have one word on their lips: COME! A watching Church should pray, should sing, should shout this cry…all our hopes wrapped up in one word: COME!

The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come!” Let anyone who hears this say, “Come!”…He who is the faithful witness to all these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon!” Amen! Come, Lord Jesus! (Revelation 22:17a, 20)
