Pressing into Calla’s Vision

IMG_7215.JPG

“Hey Calla, Ms. Jenny said she might have room for a little table at her Harvest Homecoming booth for you to sell some slime...what do you think?”

I remember Calla’s classic response to my question...the way her body bolted up in attention, the way her eyes widened in excitement, the way her smile stretched wide across her face.

“YES!!! Yes yes yes! I saw a YouTube video about how to do that,” she shrieked and started to tell me about the intricacies of how to make bulk amounts of slime, her words coming out a mile a minute. In sweet Calla-style, she was all in without a hesitation.

Jenny and Calla had a few conversations, dreaming together of what a slime station could look like and what kind of time it would take. Jenny is just that fun, excited, cheer-you-on kind of friend to have in your corner...cheerfully offering what she has to bolster you up and propel you forward.

Though technicalities kept their plan from materializing that year, they doggedly planned for the next Harvest to include a slime table annex at the Elderberry Co. booth.

And it did.

True to her promise, Jenny lovingly offered Calla Lily Slime Shop slimes in her store for Harvest Homecoming 2019.

Though none of us could have imagined the heartache that was between their plan and its fruition; the painful invasion of sickness, the suffering Calla would have to endure, the faith in Her King she would display, or the merciful rescue she would receive...Jenny stuck to their plan. She purchased supplies, set up a space, and organized a group to make slimes in Calla’s honor. She told our sweet Calla’s story and shared her heart to serve kids in Romania with all the proceeds. She made Calla Lily Slime Shop slimes available in her store and beautifully honored her friend, Calla.

Our community rallied together in support of our girl and her dreams, and Jenny completely sold out of slimes the first day...and then ran out of the restock we made available on the last day of the festival. $6,417 was raised through slime sales at Harvest Homecoming 2019, and just as Calla intended, every cent has gone to Forget Me Not Ministries, an organization that loves, leads and protects vulnerable children in Tinca, Romania.

Calla loves FMN and it was always her vision to equip them to continue their important work. After Calla’s rescue in July of 2019, FMN started a special project called “Casa Calla” in honor of our sweet girl, and to date, over $95,000 has been raised through tubs of slime, donations, and LOOK OUT FOR THE LEFT OUT t-shirts from Calla’s Slime Shop.

It is our absolute honor to make Calla’s slimes available again at The Elderberry Co. store for Harvest Homecoming 2021. If you’re in the Southern Indiana area between October 7-10, we hope you will swing by, grab one or more of seven specialty Calla slimes, and join a beautiful story being written...the story of how God can use one sweet little girl to change the world.

We have been so blessed to partner with our amazing friends at Nomad Church Collective to make Calla’s slime and with The Elderberry Co. to make it available to our community. If we have any slimes left after the festival, we will make them available at Calla’s online store, www.lovelikecalla.com. 100% of proceeds continue to fund “Casa Calla” through FMN, as we press into Calla’s vision to look out for the left out and serve our King, Jesus!
